The unforgettable atmosphere, the beautiful garden, location which is convenient for making trips to the historic sites as well as purely leisure-oriented places (ex.D-Day landing sites, Mont Saint-Michel, Honfleur, Etretat), while the Chateau itself is close to a small town, with great familiar atmosphere of "everyone-knows-everyone"

very nice atmosphere , and feel of a bit of france.

we would have preferred to have had breakfast down stairs, and not confined to our room.

Fantastic and romantic place to rest for some days

The grounds are beautiful. The chateau and furnishings are also great. The owners have dogs, which we did not expect or enjoy. The plumbing in the room is not especially good or attractive.

The staff was not aware of a local restaurant that we became aware of in one day. The staff recommended a restaurant in Bayeux and told us we did not need a reservation. Needless to say, they did not make a reservation for us and we were turned away at the restaurant.

We did not like non welcome we got on arrival. The owner showed no hospitality at all and was very cold and had little personality. We will not be going back there again.

quality of surrounding park. Quality of antiques in all the hotel.

    No WIFI or TV facilities.

Nice hotel, beautiful gardens, our room had a good size and nice view at the garden. Breakfast in the room, but we liked it. The environment is quiet, but its a great place to discover the coast of Normandy. We did enjoy our stay, nothing to complain about.

Not much to talk about really, the bed was comfortable, the gardens are pleasing and it is easy to find.

It was more like staying in someones room that they displayed all their old heirlooms , and bric a brac, this place could really do with a new owner who wants to promote the business and have a restaurant as it is it is an expensive and dissapointing experience

Nothing! Where does one start? Except it is a typical chateau from the exterior. We have stayed in these places since 80s as we prefer them - several medievil ones but always good quality & wholesome breakfasts - just this June we had a lovely stay in one in Camargue - cold breakfast but choice. Good ambience & much older building. we do so regret to have to say these things & clutter might be someones idea of good taste but there really was too much & the "Hotel Inspector " as per our tv series would have a ball with this place. Rubbing salt into our wounds, there is a write-up that they have a dining room and fine dining/chef. Not in evidence to us. Many well known people have stayed there - I supsect not recently.

We did not get the room that we booked. First night was in the Commandant: was clad all over in depressing V/dark green silk walls. En suite: a joke as poor quality & squat. We did not unpack as we decided to leave, but very busy in Bayeaux so shown the room Madeleine nxt day - somewaht brighter; although bathroom slightly better, quality poor I.E. basin leaked (reported - nothing done) - shower not acceptable - would not hang on fixings - toilet seat loose. water coming thru ceiling - towels clean but very tired as was the whole set-up. We were told breakfast served in the room (we loath sitting having breakfast looking at unmade beds). As no dining facility b/fast could only be in room - this was meagre & no choice. Sorry about this!

    Appearance and gardens looked good

No english spoken on the days we stayed and therefore no assistance for details in the area. No heating

  • Older travelers

The decor and earlier era atmosphere and the free upgrade

Breakfast was expensive and bathroom facilities limited. Separate toilet closet with no washbasin and no wall bracket for shower head. Generally rather cluttered and could do with some revamp which could be possible without spoiling the unique decor/atmosphere.

Very interesting chateaux with good gardens

Breakfast only - no other catering at all

Location is poor in relation to Bayeux, facilities are very basic, not easy to find even with a GPS

  • Older travelers
    6.6

Staff were friendly (although it helped to speak French), parking is easy, access to beaches and Bayeux is good

It is becoming a little run down, needs some replacement soft furnishings in the rooms, be nice to have the chance of breakfast out of the room.
